Facelifts

Sooo, I'm making some big changes to my wedding site and portrait sites - and having a blast! 4 full days of work, and I have all new albums on my wedding site. The portrait site boasts an entirely new section of mini sessions with portraits from all around the world.

As I was going through my personal image catologues, I realized how much my style has matured and developed over the last year. By far, my frames are more natural and more artistic.

Sometimes, it's hard for us to see the progress we make in life. Wether the topic be work, knowledge, or personal, progress isn't as easily measured in the day to day. But month by month and year by year, we keep on keeping on, and we will be astonished by where we have come from to where we are currently.

I think you'll agree with me when you see my sites. Check them out at www.ChristinaNicholePhotography.com.

Missions Photography.

I am sure this is a complicated subject. A lot of people don't understand but that's ok. I am gonna try to clarify.

I take pictures for missions organizations. I take pictures to tell people at home what God is doing around the world. I take pictures to inspire others to reach out to their world. I take pictures to tell stories.

Some people may not think this is a valid ministry. I would dare say, why ever not? With my camera, I can go to the slums of Fiji and by taking portraits for the people living there, open up the door for other ministry's to come in without difficulty and preach the gospel. With my camera, I can support organizations that bring prostitutes off the street and give them a place to live and grow. With my camera, I can write stories that explain the needs and works of people around the world.

Simply because...I have a camera.

I don't know what missions photography is going to look like for me the next few years. I wish I could set a plan and just go after it. I want nothing more than to reach into the lives of those in need, help, and inspire others to help too.

I want to change the world with my camera.

Right now, this is the part of the story I'm braving.

I would dare say that couples who are interested in supporting non profits and philanthropy would be excited to book me as their wedding photographer. I work for the good of the couple, but I also work wedding photography so I can support people in need around the world.

Wouldn't the world be a beautiful place if we all did this?

Pushing the envelope on my own creativity...that was my theme for portraits while in New Zealand. I am fairly happy with the results. Even from this 3 minute session with team member Cheryl, we turned out some really fun frames.

A Glimpse of New Zealand

Monday, December 1, 2008

I think that God was playing when He made New Zealand. By far the most captivating place on earth.

I am working on a calendar of my New Zealand images. Email me if you are interested in ordering one...

Blessings!

Eric and Chelsea

Thursday, November 27, 2008

Before heading off to New Zealand and Fiji, I spent a full Saturday photographing the beautiful union of Chelsea and Eric. Talk about an incredibly fun couple! We had a thoroughly full and exciting day...

We started out at a beautiful salon in Portland.

The window light there was perfect for a ring shot.

By 1pm we had arrived at the church where all the girls began getting all dolled up!

Eric's brothers were so much fun! They all look so much alike!

Ever the perfect groom, Eric could not stop thinking about his beautiful bride.

Chelsea was such a calm bride.

Isn't she absolutely beautiful!?!

There is nothing more special than observing and photographing the close friendships of a bride and her bridesmaids.

A more adorable bride cannot be found. Chelsea's hands curved into a heart shape without any coaching!

Cuteness found in the flower girl!

It was quite an emotional ceremony. All the family members teared up...

These two were so relaxed once the ceremony was over!

What a laid back wedding party! We had so much fun! They were so excited to have bubbles!?!

The evening light cascading over the fall colors was stunningly gorgeous!

Relaxed and creative, we went for outside the box with these frames - or should I say, inside the box? ;-)

Thanks so much Chelsea and Eric for a wonderful day! Blessings as you begin your new life together!

I'm Back...

I spent the last 5 weeks continuing the life of a missions photographer in New Zealand and Fiji with IPS. The trip proved to be amazing, and confirmed to me that missions photography is indeed a passion for me. Look for my book of New Zealand landscapes the second week of December.

As incredible as the trip was, I realized how much I missed my wedding clients. ;-) This December I spend quite a bit of time developing and redesigning my websites and marketing campaign. Also, look for me at the Portland and Pudget sound mywedding bridal shows!

The Life of a Photographer

Saturday, October 18, 2008

So, when the hustle and bustle starts melting away, and before the mad preparations for my New Zealand trip begin, I get some quiet time to perform tasks such as backing up photo's and clearing hard drives.

And in these moments, I discover some nice surprises from previous trips like this landscape from my time in Colorado.

In a little over a week, I'll be heading out to New Zealand to lead a missions photography training program. I'll return to the states just in time to meet up with my family in LA for Thanksgiving.

Keep watch for some really sweet stories of New Zealand adventures!

Joby And Paula

Sunday, October 5, 2008

A fabulous weekend of weddings and engagements continued with a perfect Sunday afternoon at the beach. Joby and Paula - two dear friends - asked me last minute if we could take advantage of the beautiful weather to take engagement portraits at Canon beach. When someone says gorgeous weather at the beach, you will find me there!

Paula and Joby are a truly wonderful couple. I have been honored to watch them as their engagement has progressed. We look forward to their wedding on January 2nd, 2009. But until then, here is a little glimpse of their love and relationship.

Cheers!

After 3 weeks of IPS classes in Colorado, I flew back home Friday night just in time to shoot the wedding of a former photography student of mine. Jessica married Zach on September 27th. What a beautiful union it was between these two.

Portraiture and Lighting

Thursday, September 25, 2008

I have reached the last 24 hours of my time here in Manitou Springs in Colorado. Katie Miller, Hannah Brandeau and myself have spent the last week teaching 8 students the ins and outs of studio and on location portraiture.

On Wednesday, I spent some time with the students by creating some really dynamic portraits of them - oh, and all within a 12 foot by 12 foot space. It was fabulous. We had a good time, and came away with some beautiful portraits.

I love creating portraits anywhere.

New Begginings

Saturday, September 20, 2008

During the two weeks of teaching out here in Colorado with IPS, I've been updating my promotional packages and marketing strategies. The other IPS instructors have given me some incredible ideas for expanding my business to support the other non-profit projects I am involved with in Revolutionary Media.

In other news, on Wednesday I had the privilege of photographing an amazing musician by the name of Ethan Deal. He loved the images and was thrilled to use them in his concert posters. Be looking out for this crazy cool musician in the future!
